The Punjab Department of Interior announced Thursday that regular criminals and individuals whose names are included in the fourth schedule will use follow -up devices and will be monitored throughout the day.
Including a name in the fourth schedule under the anti -terrorism law (ATA) means that the person in question has become a banned person. Restrictions imposed on such people include passport embargo, freezing of bank accounts, prohibition of financial support and credit, the embargo on arms license and employment authorization restrictions.
Today’s meeting was chaired by the Secretary of the Interior of Punjab, Noorul Amin Mengal, and attended the Special Secretary of the Interior Home Fazlur Rehman, Additional General Inspector (IG) of the Department of Crimes Control SOHAIL Zafar Chatha, IG OPERATIONS OF IG WAQAS NAZIR, Additional Secretary of the DR ZEESHAN HANIF Police and other relevant officers of the departments of the Law and the Treasury.
“To monitor criminals and maintain the law and order, the Department of Origin of Punjab made a historical decision, forcing criminals and usual individuals in the fourth schedule to use follow -up devices,” said a statement from the Punjab start department.
He said that monitoring devices will be provided to the Terrorism Department (CTD), the Department of Freedom Control and the Department of Crime Control.
“Initially, the Punjab Department of Interior is distributing 1,500 monitoring devices to the law enforcement agencies, of which 500 monitoring devices will be delivered to the recently formed crime control department, 900 to the CTD and 100 to the Department of Probation.
“The movement of those who use tracking devices will be monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,” said the statement.
Mengal has addressed the relevant authorities to import follow -up devices equipped with modern technology for the second phase.
“Worldwide, accepted methods will be adopted to keep criminals under surveillance.
“It should be noted that experts have recommended implementing micro-secondary chips in criminal bodies for uninterrupted surveillance,” said the statement.
In July 2023, the Punjab police announced a “facial recognition system” with artificial intelligence aimed at improving responsibility, reliability and efficiency in tracking and arrest of suspects and wanted criminals.
