“Here in California, we have a lot of sun and a lot of love for our neighbors in the north,” he said.
The previous picture does not include truck drivers who transport products to the US or passengers that fly to the US.
Caroline Beteta is the president and executive director of Visit California, who promotes trips to the State.
She said Trump’s rhetoric is unfortunate and wants possible Canadian visitors to know that they are welcome in California.
She said that Newsom is in charge of the campaign because she cares about the Broadsides against Canada.
“Obviously, we cannot control the decisions taken 2,000 miles away in another coast. But we want to reach and extend that hand to the Canadians and say that you are valued, and we are also frustrated,” he said in an interview with CBC News.

Ron Deharte, the mayor of Palm Springs, California, said that the Canadians are the soul of the city’s tourism sector, almost 10 times more Canadians visited the city of the desert resort in 2024 that the number of people who really live there throughout the year. “The Trump administration is sending messages that simply do not feel very American. This is not the way we treat our neighbors and we certainly do not treat friends like this. While cross -border business air trips have remained largely, industry experts say, other data reveal the scope of the decline to popular destinations among Canadian vacationers.

The number of American travelers who come north, a key customer base, has also decreased, according to Statistics Canada data.
“People do not travel and are border community companies such as ours that are best being beaten,” he said, noting that sales have dropped from 40 to 50 percent on average compared to last year, with smaller stores in more remote advances even more than that.
“We were on the road to the recovery of the pandemic and now we have been demolished from that path … we will lose a third of our stores if this trend continues in the coming months. People are afraid.”
