A Florida teacher and a primary school director were accused at the end of last month in relation to a party in the house where they drank minors, including one that was so drunk that they needed treatment, authorities said.
Body Camera Video released this month as part of Discovery in the criminal case showed the scene that led to the January arrests of the then director of the Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan elementary school and teacher Karly Anderson’s teacher.
The police were called to Hill-Brodigan in Cocoa Beach on January 19 after the reports of a party at home. The officers arriving found around 100 minors there, police said at that time.
A minor was on the front grass and was so intoxicated that Brevard’s county firefighters responded to treat them, police said.
In a video camera video, an officer tells a fire rescue official that the child is 17 years old and has been vomiting and needs to be reviewed. The officer says in the video that the child “does not respond or anything.”
While the officers were in the place, Anderson approached and identified as a teacher at the Roosevelt elementary school, police said.
The video shows Anderson seems to insist on his words and the officer talking to her about the party.
“There were about 200 children here, drinking,” says the officer in the video. Anderson interrupts, saying: “I already knew.”
The officer tells Anderson that she is also drunk and that he can “smell it”, but she denies it, shows the video.
At one point, the officer seems frustrated with the discussion and tells Anderson: “You are here with your boss, having a party with 200 children who drink! Go out of my face!”
Belvard’s public schools suspended Anderson and Hill-Brodigan after the incident. He called an interim director of Roosevelt Elementary and announced plans to find a replacement for Hill-Brodigan.
Superintendent Mark Rendell in January said in a letter to the parents who was very worried about the incident.
“We keep our leaders with the highest standards, and if these accusations are true, it is a complete failure in leadership and violation of our trust,” Rendell said.
Hill-Brodigan is accused of a position of child negligence, five positions to contribute to the crime of a minor and a position to hold an open-door party, said the state prosecutor’s office for the 18th Judicial Circuit.
Anderson is accused of a disorderly behavior position and disorderly poisoning, prosecutors said.
The charges were presented by the State Prosecutor’s Office on March 31, as shown in the judicial records. Online judicial records did not indicate a plea. Both women are free in Bond.
Hill-Brodigan’s lawyer Kepler Funk said his office continues to investigate the matter and did not comment on Wednesday night.
A lawyer Anderson told the NBC Wesh affiliate from Winter Park that Anderson had nothing to do with the party, that she and Hill-Brodigan were to dinner when they were informed that a party was occurring in the house of Hill-Brodigan, and that they returned to find the students clarifying.
