Sardar Akhtar Mengal, head of his faction of the National Party of Baluchistan (BNP-M), announced on Wednesday an end of the 20-day sitting part of his party in the LakPass area of the Mastung district against the arrest of Baloch’s activists, and added that they would launch a movement of public reach.
The BNP-M had begun a “long march” of Wadh to Quetta on March 28 to protest the arrests of the leaders and activists of the Balochjehti (Byc) committee, including Mahrang Baloch and Sammi Deen Baloch, as well as an offensive in his sitting in Quetta. Sammi was released on April 1.
Earlier this month, Mengal had announced that the party would march on Quetta on April 6 after three rounds of negotiations had not managed to progress.
When heading to a press conference in Mastung today, Demegal canceled the sitting, saying: “We believe in a peaceful fight. We are not finishing the movement, but we will start a public dissemination movement as of today.”
He announced that BNP-M would organize demonstrations and protests at the district level through Baluchistan in the next few days.
“In the first phase, we would celebrate manifestations of protest in Mastung, Kalat, Khuzdar and Surab. In the second stage, these manifestations would be carried out in areas of Tobat, Gwadar and Makran,” Mengal explained.
He added that the third phase of his protest movement would attract the public in the districts of Nasirabad, Jaffarabad and Dera Murad Jamali, along with other areas of Baluchistan.
Detail his protest plan further, the BNP-M chief said that the first rally would organize in Mastung but did not specify a date. Then, a rally would be held in Kalat on April 20, he added.
The roads between Quetta and Karachi, as well as Quetta and Taftan, have remained closed due to the seated, which leads to difficulties for travelers and financial losses for the business community. The BNP-M had also asked the workers and supporters of the party to block all the roads in the province and those sitting on the stage where the security forces arrested them.
Speaking about Baloch activists, Mengal said that Mahrang was arrested “unconstitutionally.” He lamented: “The State created obstacles in our long peaceful march.”
On April 6, the BNP-M could not move towards Quetta according to its plan, since a large contingent of the law agents around the Mastung protest field to arrest a meter were deployed.

The president of BNP-M also said that the delegation of the provincial government that had negotiations with his party “expressed his helplessness.”
