The Provincial Authority of Disaster Management (PDMA) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the light of increasing temperatures, starting tomorrow, warned about a possible flood situation due to the glacial explosion in the areas of the north of the province.
A KP PDMA spokesman said that high -risk districts include Chitral, Upper Dir, Swat and Kohistan.

Last year in August, a burst of Glacial Lake hit a village in the district of Alta Chitral, displacing 30 families. Experts warn that it has been reported that about 10,000 glaciers in Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan are going back due to the increase in temperature induced by climate change. Pakistan houses more than 13,032 glaciers, the largest glacier deposit outside the polar regions.
The KP PDMA has ordered the interested administrations to take immediate measures in case of any situation and alert the population of high -risk areas. The spokesman urged the public to inform any unpleasant situation to 1700.
The spokesman also added that the Emergency Operations Center for KP PDMA is fully functional, while emergency services and rescue personnel must remain alert and be prepared in advance with emergency equipment and available resources.
Tourists have been advised to take precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary trips.
