Three police officers were martyred and at least another 16 were injured on Tuesday morning, since an explosion pointed to a Baluchistan police vehicle in the Mastung district, authorities said.
Baluchistan police are part of the provincial police, according to the latter’s website.
Baluchistan government spokesman Shahid Rind, in a statement, said a vehicle that transports Kalat police officers was attacked with an improvised explosive device (FDI).
“Three Jawaan (Personal) of the Baluchistan Police were martyred in the explosion, ”said Rind.
He added that another 16 were injured due to the explosion, of which two were in a serious condition.
However, the attached Superintendent of Mastung Police (DSP) Youngas Magsi put the number of the injured at age 18.
All injured police have been transferred to a hospital while the serious injured were taken to Quetta, about 50 kilometers from Mastung, according to RIND.
He added that an incident research report has been sought.
