With the recent traffic accidents in Karachi that made the enraged mobs fire heavy vehicles that were responsible for them, the National Awami Party (ANP), the president of the Sindh chapter, Shahi, said on Saturday, along with MQM, tried to pacify the situation saying that the continuous problems that plague the city, including road contractions, are an administrative failure, not the product ethnic.
The city has recently witnessed an increase in traffic accidents, especially involving water dumpeters and oil tankers, who killed almost 500 people and injured 4,879 in 2024, according to hospital data.
On Wednesday night, a total of nine dumperadores and oil tankers were burned in angry mobs in Karachi, near the main road, which led Chowrangi 4 k after a heavy vehicle hit a bicycle rider, wounding it in the area of northern Karachi.
Sindh’s Prime Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah ordered the police and the Karachi transport authorities on Tuesday to perform random drug tests on heavy vehicle drivers to ensure safe and responsible driving.
Rights activists and civil society members have said that the growing number of fatal traffic accidents in the city and the poor state of the application of the traffic law are human rights violations, that the State has not been able to safeguard.
Going to a press conference in Karachi together with the president of MQM-P Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, the leader of the ANP chapter emphasized that people are worried about how they can reach the end of the month due to the increase in inflation.
“Engineers with titles cannot get a job and have to feed their families and pay bills,” he lamented. “Every man in Karachi is anxious. We treat Urdu speakers as brothers and they respond in kind.”
Sayed added that no one looks at titles such as MPA or MNA and, on the other hand, is involved with others with “love and brotherhood.”
“I want to tell the country not to look at Karachi as a city, I urge you to see him as Pakistan,” he said. “Punjab and Baluchistan are all here. Karachi is so strong that if we join and operate without corruption, we can grow 10 times stronger.
“There is no shortage of anything but political strength and will,” he said, adding that he intended to speak with the PPP about “discrimination and mafias waiters” that concern the city.
Sayed appealed to the citizens of Karachi that if they wanted to strengthen Pakistan, they needed to start the metropolis.
“We have problems with traffic accidents. Instead of drawing weapons, we simply need to condemn accidents and take legal actions,” he emphasized.
“We appeal to people who do not act on emotion and remember that this is an administrative problem. We must make government demands through the right channels,” Sayed added. “These are not ethnic problems but administrative failures.”
MQM Siddiqui said that although his party represents the largest ethnic group in Karachi, his goal is to represent all the ethnic groups that live in the metropolis.
“The MQM is the representative of the largest ethnic group in this city, although our goal is to represent all ethnic groups in the future,” he said. “It is our greatest responsibility to ensure that conditions in the city do not go back to the way they were.”
The president of MQM also pointed to Sayed’s role in Karachi and that “it has been part of the MQM programs and understands the suffering of the citizens of Karachi.”
“During the last 25 years, the Sindh quota system has played the most important role in the ruination of the city,” Siddiqui lamented. “There have been no works or places in educational institutions assigned in the urban areas of Sindh due to the quotas.
“Today’s meeting emphasized that we cannot allow the plans that harm Karachi people continue,” he said. “We call on all ethnic groups that remain united through political efforts, ensure their rights. This is essential for national unity and security.”
Killed in a four -year traffic accident
A four -year -old boy was killed today in another accident that involved a heavy vehicle in Karachi, police said.
Talking with Dawn.com Today, the officer of the Baldia Police Station (SHO) Imran Saad said that a four -year -old boy played on a road in Abidabad when a tank truck ran and killed him.
Sho Saad said the driver managed to escape from the place, while the water oil tanker was confiscated.
He added that the accident outraged the locals, who tried to damage the oil tanker, however, the police prevented them from doing so.
