Senior PPP leader Senator Taj Haider passes away after battling cancer – Pakistan

The unconditional senator of PPP, Taj Haider, died in Karachi on Tuesday, confirmed his party and family. He was 84 years old.

His wife Naheed Wasi confirmed death on a Facebook post. She said the funeral details would be provided later.

Senator Zamir Ghumro told him Dawn.com That Haider died after fighting cancer.

Nazakat Ali, Haider personnel director, said the senator was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Ziauddin Hospital in Karachi during the last two days.

Haider served as a senator for the party since March 2012-2018 and was currently served in March 2021 to 2027. He was president of the Senate Permanent Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges.

The president of Karachi Press Club, Fazil Jamili, said that death was a “deep pain.”

“I was a true comrade, a dedicated Democrat and a committed political worker, a rare race in today’s hypocritical political landscape. My deepest condolences for all who still believe in honesty and integrity,” he said.

PML-N Senator Affanullah Khan also offered good wishes for the deceased in an X publication.
