Madonna is putting her decades with Elton John behind her.
On Monday, the pop icon shared a photo of her and John behind the stage after he appeared as a musical guest at “Saturday Night Live”, and wrote that “they finally buried the ax!”
Over the years, the singer of “Rocket Man” has publicly dissected Madonna, who said “hurt her.” But after her last meeting, she said everything is fine with them now.
In his Instagram publication, Madonna explained that he decided to go see John act during the weekend and “confront him.”
He began his position remembering his home when he was in high school to see John in concert in Detroit.
“It was an unforgettable performance that helped me understand the transforming power of music,” he wrote, before touching how the moment affected her and how much it hurt to know that he did not like.
“Seeing him act when I was in high school changed the course of my life. I always felt like a strange growing and seeing him on stage helped me understand that it was well to be different to highlight,” he said, “taking the way, less traveled. In fact, it was essential.”
However, he pointed out: “Throughout the decades it hurt to know that someone I admired so much shared his disgust for me publicly as an artist. I did not understand it.”
Then, she decided to see him behind the stage after his performance on Saturday and shared how his interaction was reduced.
“When I met him, the first thing that came out of his mouth was, ‘forgive me’ and the wall between us fell,” he wrote. “Forgiveness is a powerful tool. In a matter of minutes. We were hugging.”
Madonna revealed that John told her that she wrote a song for her and that she wanted to collaborate.
“It was as if everything was filled with a circle!” She wrote, adding lyrics of one of her successes “and you can tell everyone, this is your song.”
The “Tiny Dancer” singer also shared Madonna’s publication in his Instagram story and called his reconciliation “a healing moment.”

2004: Elton John accuses Madonna of lip synchronization
John has not contained his thoughts about the singer of “Vogue” for more than 20 years.
When the British artist was accepting a prize in the Q Awards in 2004, he accused Madonna of lip synchronization.
“Madonna, the best live act? F — outside,” said John. “Since when has the lips been live? Forgiveness for that, but I think that all those who synchronize the lips on the stage in public when they pay, as, 75 Quid to see them should shoot themselves.”
He clarified his comments, saying to Entertainment Weekly a few weeks later that he did not want to “intensify” the situation and apologize to her.
“I don’t want to climb it because I like Madonna,” the singer and composer told the magazine. “She has been in my house for dinner. It was something that was said in the heat of the moment, and it probably shouldn’t have said.”
“Would I apologize to her if I saw her?” said. “Yes, because I don’t want to hurt the feelings of any artist. It was my fault. Instige everything. But it applies to all those bloody teenage singers.”
2004: Madonna’s representative denies lip synchronization
After John’s initial comments on the awards, Madonna’s spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg denied the accusations.
“Madonna does not synchronize his lips or spend his time destroying other artists,” Rosenberg said in October 2004, according to Associated Press. “She sang each note of her live reinvention tour and is not ashamed to be paid for her hard work.”
January 2012: Elton John’s husband also criticizes Madonna
Elton John’s husband, David Furnish, expressed his frustration about Madonna winning the best song in the 2012 Golden Globes for his song “Masterpiece” of the movie “We” about “Hello Hello” by John by “Gnomeo & Juliet”.
“Madonna. The best song ???? F — outside !!!” He wrote in a publication eliminated on Facebook.
Days later, he apologized saying that his love for John’s song took over his emotions.
“What storm in a teapot. My comments on the Golden Globes have moved,” Furnish wrote on Facebook, according to e! News. “My passion for our movie ‘Gnomeo & Juliet’ and the belief in Elton’s song really made my emotional juices work. But I must say for the album that I think Madonna is a great artist, and that Elton and I wish her all the best for the premiere of the movie next week ‘We'”.
January 2012: Madonna recognizes Elton John’s aversion for her
According to Us Weekly, Madonna told journalists after the 2012 Golden Globes that she knew that John had a tendency to “get angry” with her.
“I hope I talk to me during the next few years,” he said after his victory. “It is known that he gets angry with me, so I don’t know. It’s bright and I adore him to win another prize. I don’t feel bad!”
August 2012: Elton John says that “Madonna’s career is over”
In August 2012, John called Madonna “a nightmare” who dresses as a “fairgrounds stripper” during an interview with Australia channel “Sunday Night”.
In that same interview, he also said: “His career is over.”
Meanwhile, Madonna’s spokesman said at that time that she doesn’t spend her time “destroying other artists.”
August 2013: Elton John says that his enmity has been “finished with”
The following year, John told “Extra” that he and Madonna had left his dispute behind. When asked if he would ever compensate with Madonna, he replied: “We have.”
John said they invented while they were in France when they were at the same restaurant.
“She entered, I sent a note, she was very kind,” he shared. “I apologized profusely because what I said should never have appeared in public. It was very kind. She accepted my apologies. We bought her dinner, and that was over and finished.”
Furnish, who was also being interviewed with her husband, added: “We do not believe in putting negativity in the world and we both embarrassed when all things came out”
At that time, John said Madonna “had every right” not to want to talk to him again.
It seems of the latest Instagram publication of Madonna that took another decade completely accepting her apology.
2025: Madonna says she and Elton John “buried the ax”
In his Monday Instagram publication, Madonna shared why he decided to “confront” John behind the stage after his presentation “Saturday Night Live”.
Madonna shared what John’s fan was like and how “someone who was admired so much shared his disgust publicly as an artist.
The two then forgave and left the past behind them. John called him “a curative moment” in his Instagram history.
