Inflation hits three-decade-low of 0.7pc in March – Business

The inflation rate of the Pakistan consumer price index (CPI) maintained an acute slowdown trend on Thursday, reaching a minimum of three decades of 0.7 percent year -on -year (interannual) in March.

The current situation in Pakistan reflects disinflation, which means a slowdown in inflation. In contrast, deflation occurs when general price levels decrease.

According to the Pakistan Statistics Office, IPC inflation decreased to 0.7PC in a year after year in March 2025 compared to 1.5PC in February and 20.7pc in March 2024.

“About one month by month, it increased by 0.9 percent in March 2025 compared to a decrease of 0.8pc in the previous month,” he said.

Topline Securities, a brokerage firm in Karachi, said: “Pakistan’s CPI for March 2025 has registered at 0.7pc, the lowest monthly yoy reading in more than three decades.

“Inflation in February 2025 was 1.5pc,” he said. “Inflation during 9MFY25 has averaged 5.25pc compared to 27.06pc in 9MFy24”.

Prices of non -food items that increased: Motor vehicle tax (168.79pc), footwear (31.89pc), dental services (27.20pc), medical tests (15.53pc) and medications and medications (15.26pc).

Food prices that increased: fresh fruits (24.62pc), tomatoes (22.11pc), chicken (15.40pc), eggs (14.32pc), sugar (11.31pc) and fresh vegetables (6.34pc).

PM Shehbaz expresses confidence in the economy

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his confidence in the economy in improvement, citing better inflation numbers, state property Pakistan radio reported.

Speaking today in an event, the prime minister said that reducing inflation to a single digits was the electoral manifesto of the PML-N.

In addition, he pointed out that gasoline prices had decreased and the monetary policy rate has been reduced to 12pc from the maximum of 22pc.
