Ontario launched its 2024 Sunshine list on Friday, the annual list that documes public sector employees with salaries of more than $ 100,000, with the president and CEO of Ontario’s energy generation, Kenneth Hartwick, exceeding the list again with a salary of just over $ 2 million.
Electricity Crown Corporation employees occupied the top three puts on the list, with six in total among the top 10, all winning at least $ 800,000. Hartwick took first place last year with a salary of $ 1.93 million.
The former Metrolinx CEO, Phil Verser, was fourth on the list, winning around $ 884,000. He resigned last December.
Three medical care ceos also deciphered the Top 10: Kevin Smith of University Health Network ($ 883,097), Ronald Cohn of the Hospital of Nursing Children of Toronto ($ 870,013) and Matthew Anderson of Ontario Health ($ 83,653).
A little more than 377,000 names made the list in 2024, compared to 300,570 last year. All wages on the list are added to a little more than $ 50 billion.
Ontario Power Generation represented 10,007 names on the list, with those salaries that total approximately $ 1.68 billion.

Other paid high public employees included some university presidents, with three winning more than $ 450,000 last year: the president of Cononestoga, John Tibbits ($ 636,106.70), the president of Humber, Ann Marie Vaughan ($ 497,880.32) and the president of Seneca, David Agnew ($ 459,778.83).
Caroline Mulroney, president of the Treasury Board, said that almost half of the growth in the list was promoted by the School Board sector, and the teachers contributed to 87 percent of this increase in a statement on Friday.
“Compensation in the sectors that saw the greatest increases from year after year can be attributed to the salary settings through the board, retroactive payments made in the 2024 calendar year and the most recent collective bargaining results,” he said.
The prime minister obtained less than 6 people in his office
There are 47 people from the Prime Minister’s office on the list, six of whom won more in 2024 than Doug Ford ($ 208,974), including his chief of cabinet, Patrick Sackville ($ 328,098).
The Premier and MPP salary have been frozen since 2008, although Ford recently pointed out that it can soon change. Ontario MPPS currently gain less than the councilors of the city of Toronto, who voted this week to take their first increase since 2006.
The mayor of Toronto, Olivia Chow, whose salary was not affected by the payment collection vote of the councilors, won $ 225,093 last year.
Toronto police chief Myron Demkiew won $ 394,228, but was not the best paid member of the Toronto Police Service. That title was for Chung Wong ($ 428,232), whom the list identifies as TPS sergeant. Wong also beat Demiw on last year’s list.
The York Regional Police Chief James Macsween was the best paid police chief in the province, with a salary of $ 415,230.
The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Lawpromulgated by former progressive conservative prime minister Mike Harris in 1996, forces organizations that receive public funds from the province to inform the names, positions and salaries of the people who earn more than $ 100,000.
Adjusted for inflation, $ 100,000 in 1996, when the list was created, it would be equal to approximately $ 185,000 today.
In Queen’s Park last year, some MPP argued that the list should be linked to the inflation rate, but the then leader of the House of Representatives, Paul Calandra, said there were no plans to make changes.
