The doctor accused of trying to kill his wife as he walked in Hawaii only stopped his rock attack that wielded syringes when the fellow hikers went to the scene, according to the judicial documents revealed on Thursday.
Dr. Gerhardt Konig, an anesthesiologist Maui, 46, was with his wife in Pali Puka Trail in Honolulu on Monday when he asked him to take a picture of them, according to judicial documents that support his arrest.
“He mentioned that while he was on the road, Gerhardt was standing near the edge and asked him to take a selfie with him,” said Honolulu Police statement.
The suspect’s wife, Arielle Konig, said she was uncomfortable as she was so close to the edge before moving away, according to the affidavit of the Court.
Dr. Konig shouted to return and she refused, which led Dr. Konig to push the victim to the bushes, he told the police.
It was then that Dr. Konig picked up a rock and hit her in the head about 10 times “while he also grabbed the back of his hair and broke his face to the ground,” according to the document.
The wife informed the Police that Konig took “two syringes from his bag and tried to use them on her, but she could move them away from him,” said the police statement.
The mad attack only decreased when other hikers met the scene.
“‘He is trying to kill me. He is hitting me in the head with a rock,'” said Arielle Konig, 36, the first hiker who approaches, reported NBC KHNL affiliate, citing the judicial document.
Dr. Konig fled and was caught several hours after a brief feet persecution, authorities said.
A judge established the bond of Gerhardt Konig at $ 5 million and a preliminary hearing in the murder attempt was scheduled for Monday.
A lawyer from Dr. Konig could not be contacted immediately to comment on Friday.
