EU-Pakistan business forum set to take place in May – Pakistan

The Eu-Pakistan business forum will take place in Islamabad from May 14 to 15 to improve economic cooperation, according to a joint announcement of the Government Delegation and the European Union on Tuesday.

The EU is the largest single market in the world and the largest destination for the former Pakistani ports. The EU is also the largest foreign investor in the world that represents 42 percent of foreign foreign investment worldwide.

Earlier this month, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire to further strengthen his cooperative association with the EU and welcomed the call of the Business Forum.

“With a rapid growth market of more than 240 million people, competitive labor costs, strategic geographical access to the center and southern Asia and preferential commercial access to the EU, Pakistan offers immense commercial opportunities,” reads the statement.

The Forum will bring together high -level political leaders, including prime minister, finance and trade ministers, business leaders and CEO of Pakistan and Europe, financial institutions such as the European Investment Bank, investors and other key interested parties.

During the two -day forum, the potential, innovation and best practices of Pakistan in the key sectors will be exhibited (including agribusiness, energy and renewable energy, green logistics, pharmaceutical products, IT and textiles).

The EU ambassador, Dr. Riina Kionka, said: “European companies are recognizing Pakistan as a potential commercial destination. This forum serves as a vital platform to strengthen collaboration between European and Pakistani companies, deepens bilateral trade and explores new avenues for the Economic Association.

“It is also an opportunity for Pakistan to benefit from Global Gateway opportunities.”

In addition to dedicated companies to company and government to government, attractive discussions, dedicated exhibitions, the forum will also mark the launch of the EU-Pakistan commercial network, which will group the more than 300 active European companies in Pakistan.
