The Rachel Homin Curling team was the distance to reach the final of the Women’s World Championship.
Homan, Tracy Fleury, Emma Miskew and Sarah Wilkes sailed waves of impulse in a 6-5 victory in an additional ending over Gim Eun-Ji of South Korea in Saturday’s semifinal in Uijeongbu, South Korea.
The Canadians meet Silvana Tirinzoni for Gold Sunday (3 am et) by Switzerland in a rematch of last year’s final in Sydney, NS, where Hogan demolished Tirinzoni 7-5 for the title.
“Very excited that we are in another final. It’s great for Canada,” Homan said.
His Ottawa Curling Club Foursome aims to be the first Canadian team to repeat as world champion since Sandra Schmirler’s team did so in 1993 and 1994.

The Rachel Homan track defeated Korea 6-5, at an additional end, to advance to the final of the gold medal in the World Curling Championship in Uijeongbu, South Korea.
Canada followed South Korea 4-3 in the semifinal when Homan produced his first two-point final in the ninth with a food to carry for a death.
In the tenth, Homan executed a difficult double blow, eliminating a central line counter and another in the 12 -foot rings, to keep Gim to one point and take Hammer to the additional end.
“I was quite emotional after that. It was huge for us and huge for Canada. We wanted to do that, and I didn’t know if I was going to drop,” Homan said. “Fortunately, he did it, and it was a great time to keep our possibilities alive.”
The skip did not have to throw its last stone from the additional end. Gim tried a double food to carry, but survived and left the winning point at stake to seal the victory for Canada.
“Want or lose, we fight around,” Homan said. “We leave everything out there and I am very proud of the girls.
“It didn’t look good all the time. We knew we had to fight. We had a phenomenal game and we had to grind him in the extra.”
Homan advanced to the semifinal with a 10-4 victory over Sophie Jackson in Scotland on Friday night, and avenged an 8-7 defeat against the Scots to open the tournament of 13 countries.

Canada defeated Scotland 10-4 in the World Curling Women’s Championship on Friday, while Rachel Homan and his track based in Ottawa advance to the semifinal round to face the nation host of Korea.
Tirinzoni surpassed Rui Wang 4-2 in China in a tense and low punctuation semifinal.
After the Swiss arrived early with two points at the first end, China was white to the next six before finally counteracting with a deduce.
The Swiss scored his single in the ninth. A double bearing food and a roll to freeze a Chinese stone in the tenth produced a robbery of one to ensure victory.
South Korea and China play for Bronze Saturday (9 pm et).
