‘Accused key’ Fahim Khan arrested
Fahim Khan, president of the Democratic Minority Party (MDP), has been identified as one of the key instigators of Mahal’s riots. Arrested a day ago by the Ganeshpeth police, he had previously taken a mafia to the police station to file a complaint after Basrang Dal and VHP allegedly burned a holi chadar and an effigy of Aurengzeb. The court has sent Khan and another 26 to police custody until March 21 to interrogate. While Khan was not initially appointed in the FIR, the police arrested him for allegedly inciting the mafia, who then attacked police officers and the public in the center of Nagpur, with Mahal as the epicenter. “If he is not the intellectual author, Khan is certainly an instigator. We witness him that he caused the mafia against the police and others,” said a senior police officer.
