Nueva Delhi: A Holi celebration ended in tragedy when four teenagers drowned in the Ulhas River in the Badlapur area of ​​Thane on Friday afternoon after venturing into the water.
The victims, all X -class students between 15 and 16, were residents of the PODDAR Gruh complex in Chamtoli. According to the police, the children were swept when the river water level suddenly rose, leaving them unable to escape.
The deceased has been identified as Aryan Medar (15), OM Singh Toma (15), Siddharth Singh (16) and Aryan Singh (16). The authorities confirmed that their bodies have been recovered and sent to the Rural Hospital of Badlapur for postmortem.
“A case has been registered and an investigation is being carried out to determine the circumstances of the incident,” said a police officer.
The locals and rescue teams rushed to the place, but the rapid current hindered immediate recovery. The tragedy has caused concerns about water safety measures during festive celebrations, and officials urge people to remain cautious near rivers and water bodies.
