A bomb exploded in a mosque in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in southern Wazirist during Friday’s prayers, hurting the head of the District of Jui, Abdullah Nadeem and three others, the police said.
The police officer Asif Bahader said Dawn.com that an improvised explosive device (FDI) was produced at 1:45 pm in the ABDUL AZIZ Mosque on the Azam Warsak Bypass road, with the device planted in the mosque pulpit.
“In the explosion, Abdullah Nadeem, the head of the Jui district, was seriously injured,” he said. “Three others, which also belong to the jui, have suffered minor injuries.”
The injured were identified as a Rehmanullah, Mullah Noor and Shah Behran, said a statement issued by the police.
Dpo Bahader added that all injured people had been taken to the Hospital of the District headquarters to obtain immediate medical assistance.
“The police have also arrived at the explosion site and is collecting evidence,” he said. “Greater investigation is being carried out.”
Mosques, particularly during Friday’s prayers, when the big congregations gather, they have also been attacked in KP in the past.
Last month, six people, including the leader of Jui-S, Maulana Hamidul Haqqani, died and 15 were injured when a suicidal explosion crossed the Darul Uuloom Haqqania seminar in the Newshera District of KP.
