Nueva Delhi: The fulfillment direction on Thursday made multiple raids in Karnataka in the case of gold smuggling in which actress Ranya Rao was arrested by the Income Intelligence Directorate.
According to the agency, a case has been a field under the money laundering prevention law, with the knowledge of a signed registered by the Central Research Office.
Actress Ranya Rao was arrested on March 3 of Bengaluru of the Kempe Gowda International Airport for trying to smuggled 14.2 kg of gold worth RS 12.56 million rupees.
During his interrogation, Rao said that his trip to Dubai was for commercial purposes. However, the authorities suspect that their visit was linked to the illegal import of gold.
Previously, CBI presented a FIR in the case of Gold Smuggling Ranya Rao on the complaint of Abhishek Chandra Gupta, Additional Director of Intelligence Directorate (DRI).
According to the complaint, after the arrest of Ranya Rao on March 3, two foreign citizens were also arrested on March 6 of Mumbai airport for trying to smuggled 21.28 kg of gold to India by RS value. 18.92 million rupees, according to the complaint.
Abhishek Chandra Gupta, additional director of DRI, in his complaint has said that these cases that involve passengers who make Dubai trips and try to smuggled gold in large quantities points to a “possible link” with a coordinated smuggling union, possibly operating from Dubai (UAE).
“The two previous cases detected in a rapid succession that involve passengers who make trips from Dubai, the attempt to smuggle large amounts of gold in India and the high frequency of these visits that involve Indian and foreigners citizens, points to a possible link with coordinated smuggled syndicates, possibly operating from Dubai (UAE). The controversy exploded after the reports suggested that Ranya Rao had used VIP courtesy services at the airport to avoid security controls, thus participating in illegal activities. He alleges that Ranya took advantage of his connections to smuggle gold from Dubai to Bengaluru.
