Karachi: A judicial magistrate on Wednesday sent a man under the custody of the Federal Research Agency (FIA) in a case of child pornography.
The United States General Consulate, through its special agent Christopher Peterson, had filed a complaint against the suspect, accusing him of extorting minors in the United States.
Later, the circle of reports of cyber crimes of the FIA had reserved the suspect of crimes under sections 16 (manipulation of communication equipment), 22 (spamming) and 26 (legal recognition of crimes committed in relation to information systems) of the Law on the Prevention of Electronic Crimes, 2016.
On Wednesday, the investigating officer of the case, Ameer Ali Khoso, brought the suspect against Judicial Judge (east) Yusra Ashfaq and sought his 14 -day physical custody for the interrogation.
The IO informed the court that the suspect was retained on his alleged participation in child pornography, since he used the objectable personal data of the minor citizens of the United States.
After listening to the IO and examining the return documents, the court delivered the FIA custody to the suspect for five days.
According to the FIR, after obtaining a search warrant, the FIA team raided the suspect’s house in Gulzar-Hijri and confiscated its personal electronic devices, including its mobile phone, the laptop. An initial technical analysis of the seized devices revealed that it had children’s pornographic material/videos and threatening messages.
