‘If country’s name is Bharat, it should only be called that way’: RSS leader | India News

New Delhi: General Secretary of RSS Dattatreya Hosabale He said that if the name of the country is “bharat”, it must be called such.
Speaking during an event in Delhi, Hosabale sent the G20 dinner invitation that addressed the president as “president of Bharat” in September 2023, which led to generalized speculation about the government’s intention to change the name of the country of India to Bharat.
“In recent days, the G20 G20 invitation, the invitation for a banquet in the presidential residence, was written in English as ‘Bharat’ because Bharat’s name should be called India in English and Bharat in the Indian language,” said Hosabale.

Hosabale said questions about the use of two names for the country and that this matter must be rectified.
“It is the ‘Constitution of India’, ‘Bank of the Reserve of India’. Why is it so? Such a question must be raised. It must be rectified. If the name of the country is Bharat, it should only be called that way,” he said.
The transition from “Bharat” to “India” as the name commonly used for the country covers a multifaceted history, influenced by linguistic multiplicity, colonialism and government transformations.
The Row of India VS Bharat began shortly after the opposition parties, which joined the BJP for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, decided to appoint their group as India (Indian National Development Alliance).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi directed the attack against the new name of the opposition front. The prime minister cited examples of organizations such as Popular Front of India and said they also use India in their names. In most of his subsequent speeches, the prime minister used Bharat for most of his references to the country. Almost all the ministers of the Union and the BJP leaders did the same and pointed to the new name of the opposition alliance.
