Medical helicopter crash in Mississippi kills 3

Madison County, Miss. – A medical transport helicopter crashed in Mississippi on Monday, killing a pilot and two hospital workers on board, the authorities said.

A spokesman for the Medical Center of the University of Mississippi confirmed everyone’s death aboard the flight. The air care helicopter did not take any patient when he crashed in Madison County, north of the capital of Jackson, the university said in a previous statement.

The families of the three victims were notified, but the authorities did not reveal names to protect their privacy. The university did not offer a reason for the accident.

The WAPT television station reported that the authorities of the Federal Aviation Administration were on their way.

“It is a tragic reminder of the risks that the first to respond to Mississippi takes every day to keep us safe,” said Mississippi governor Tate Reeves, on Facebook. “Our state will never forget the sacrifice of these heroes.”
