A woman was taken to a hospital on Sunday night after she was chopped by a scorpion at Boston Logan International Airport.
Boston Emergency Medical Services responded to the incident and transported the woman through the ambulance to a hospital in the area just before 7 pm, they said in a statement to NBC News.
It is not clear what type of scorpion put the woman, or what condition was in.
The 40 -year -old woman, who has not been identified, was recovering her luggage from the Customs Customs area of luggage when she was bitten, NBC Boston reported.
According to centers for disease control and prevention, most scorpion bites are not serious, but can cause “intense pain and redness.” However, the poison of some species “can cause serious diseases, affecting the heart, nervous system and other organs,” says CDC.
Scorpions generally live in subtropical and tropical areas, and can be found in each continent, except in Antarctica, according to CDC.
