KP CTD files terrorism case, offers reward for info on Nowshera seminary suicide bomber – Pakistan

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s contractorism department (CTD) announced on Saturday a monetary reward for information about an unidentified suicide terrorist, whom he had reserved in a case of terrorism a day for a deadly attack in a seminar in the District of Nowshera.

Maulana Hamidul Haqqani, son of Maulana Samiul Haq and head of her own faction of Jamiat Ulema-iislam (JUI-S), was among six people who perished in the suicidal attack in the Darul Ulom Haqqania yesterday.

Another 18 people were injured when the suicide bomber detonated the explosives tied to their body after the congregation of sentences on Friday.

The FIR invoked section 7 (punishment for acts of terrorism) of the 1997 Anti-Terrorism Law, as well as sections 302 (Qatl-I-Amd or intentional murder), 324 (murder attempt) and 427 (mischief cause damage to the amount of RS50) of the Pakistan Criminal Code (PPC).

The complaint named five others who died in the attack and another nine, including Sani, who were among the 18 people injured.

According to the FIR, Sani and his father left the seminar to go home after Friday’s prayers, but when they reached the “small door” of the place, a “unique suicide bomber approached the father (Haqqani) and was exploded.”

Sani said the explosion resulted in the death of the six people, as well as other wounds, including him. He added that there were seminar students and teachers present at the time of the incident.

Remembering that the bomber had murdered those named in the FIR and spread the fear among the people, Sani declared that measures were taken against the unknown attacker under the aforementioned laws.

“Maulana Haq left the seminar for her home after prayers when she was attacked by the terrorist suicide,” said the inspector general of KP (IG) Zulfiqar Hameed Sunrise.

Three police personnel are also among the injured, Hameed had said, adding that the staff was deployed to provide security to Haqqani.

The eyewitnesses had said that the suicide terrorist had reached the door used by Haqqani to leave the mosque, and added that the explosion took place after the prayers, when the Maulana went out to go home.

“The suicide terrorist was dressed as a religious scholar. He arrived at the door just when the Mulana left the mosque and detonated the explosives, ”said Muhammad Mudassar, a local resident.

Former member of the National Assembly from 2002 to 2007, Haqqani assumed the position of head of the party after his father, an influential religious scholar and a former senator, was stabbed in his residence in Rawalpindi in November 2018.

Often called ‘University of Jihad’ by the Western media, the Darul Ulom Haqqania tells the key Taliban figures among their students. Founded in 1947, the seminar is located about 60 km east of Peshawar in the Grand Trunk Road in Nowshera.
