Nueva Delhi: the former president of the Supreme Court of India, Dy Chandrachud, caused parallels between an alleged case of rape in Swargate Depot in the Pune of Maharashtra and the incident of “Nirbhaya” and said that many changes in the laws were made, but such incidents cannot be avoided only with laws.
The former CJI emphasized that social responsibility plays a crucial role, together with the proper application of existing laws.
“Many changes were made in the laws after the incident of ‘Nirbhaya’, however, we cannot avoid such incident only having laws. There is a great responsibility for society and, apart from this, the implementation of the laws should be there. The laws made for women must be properly implemented,” said the former CJI.
According to the reports, a 26 -year -old young woman was sexually assaulted inside a stationary bus in the Pune Swargate bus deposit during the early hours of February 25. The victim, who was employed, had been waiting to take a bus to Phaltan.
The accused individual, Dattatray Ramdas Gade, contacted her and cheated her by stating that her planned bus was parked in a different location. He guided it to a unoccupied Shivshahi bus inside the deposit facilities. Once she entered the vehicle, he followed her on board and allegedly perpetrated the assault before starting.
In the midst of the growing opposition pressure, the police had launched an extensive search operation to stop the defendant. A total of 13 teams, including eight from the crime branch and five of the Swargate police station, are actively chasing clues. The teams have also been sent outside the district.
“Women should feel safe wherever they go. It is important that in such cases, there must be adequate investigation, a strong action, Fast and punishment judgment. The legal system and the police have a great responsibility, “added the CJI.

The poster mentions that a case under section 64, 351 (2) of 2023 has registered against the defendant.
