NEW DELHI: Air India flights – both national and international – operated in its Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9 and some A321neo aircraft will now have Wi-Fi internet. This makes the Tata Group company the first Indian airline to offer Wi-Fi connectivity on board on domestic flights, “allowing travelers to browse, access social media, catch up on work or text friends and family.” AI says that “Wi-Fi is free for an introductory period and will be progressively added to other aircraft in its fleet over time.”
Accessible from Wi-Fi enabled devices such as laptops, tablets and smartphones running iOS or Android operating systems, onboard Wi-Fi will also allow guests to connect multiple devices simultaneously when above 10,000 feet, subject to factors. such as satellite connectivity, general bandwidth usage, routes and government restrictions.

The rollout of Wi-Fi on domestic routes follows an ongoing pilot program on international services operated by Airbus A350, select Airbus A321 neo and Boeing B787-9 aircraft serving international destinations including New York, London, Paris and Singapore.
