New Zealand suffered a second blow of injury on the eve of the Champions trophy on Tuesday with the experienced bowling player Lockie Ferguson ruled out the tournament with a foot problem.
The 33 -year -old, who collected the injury during a T20 League in the EAU last month, will be replaced by Kyle Jamieson.
Ferguson is the second victim in the team of 15 men in New Zealand after Jacob Duffy replaced his fellow Ben Sears pacemaker due to an injury to the hamstrings. Ferguson has taken 99 wickts in 65 hate.
“We are really disappointed by Lockie,” said New Zealand coach Gary Stead, whose lateral welcoming and defenders of the Pakistan champions in Karachi on Wednesday in the first game.
“Lockie is a key part of the bowling group and brings a lot of important experience in the tournament and we know how much I hoped to represent New Zealand in another important event.”
Jamieson, 30, played 13 hate between 2020 and 2023.
New Zealand and Pakistan are found in Group A of the Champions Trophy of eight nations, with India and Bangladesh the other teams of the group.
Australia, England, South Africa and Afghanistan are in Group B.
