HC rejects Bangladesh couple’s CAA claim, junks bail plea | India News

Kolkata: The United States question by deporting illegal immigrants, including Indians, was discussed in the discussion in the Superior Court of Calcutta on Monday when the court rejected the bail requests for a Bangladesh coupleNow after the bars, accused of entering India with false passports.
A Division Bank of Judge Debangsu Basak and Judge MD Shabbar Rashidi heard a statement of Dulal Sil and his wife, Swapna Sil, who transferred to the Superior Court praying for bail. They argued that they came from Bangladesh in 2010 and settled in East Burdwan. They said they were arrested 13 months ago and sent to judicial custody.
Noting the recent deportations of the United States to India, Judge Basak said: “Do you not see that people who moved illegally to the United States are being returned to India? I would ask you to provide citizenship documents to the Court .
The lawyer of the petitioners said that his clients obtained genuine Aadhar cards, voting cards and ration cards of the appropriate authorities. “We also have a housing unit under Prime Minister Awas Yojana,” said the lawyer. The HC was surprised by submission.
“Those who have come from Bangladesh to India have Aadhar cards, voters and rations from India. I don’t know if they are presenting income tax statements, but many Bangladesi do it after coming to India. Those who have come To India Fake Bangladesh’s passports have all those documents, “Judge Basak said.
The lawyer of the petitioners said that citizenship documents were not being given to the couple. Stating that the petitioners were genuine Indian citizens, the lawyer opposed the position that the petitioners entered India with false passports.
The lawyer declared that, as the petitioners were Hindus and entered India in 2010 before December 31, 2014, the deadline established by virtue of the citizenship amendment law, the petitioners would not be under the provisions of the Law of Foreigners
However, the Division Bank did not buy the argument and rejected requests for bail of the petitioners.
