A married couple who spent RS 80 Lakh to reach the United States was arrested upon arrival and deported. They landed at Amritsar on Saturday night on the second American deportation flight and arrived at their native place in Lalru in the Punjab Mohali district on Sunday.
Gurreet Singh (30) and Amanpreet Kaur (26) married a year and a half ago, left the country shortly after and continued wandering from one country to another for nine months before the US immigration agents arrested them as soon as they entered In that country. Gurreet’s father, Jaswinder Singh, is a Punjab policeman. Gurpreet and Amanpreet, who come from Shahzadpur de Haryana, are Mohali’s second couple that has been deported from the United States.
The couple is traumatized and is not willing to reveal details of their nine -month route to the United States. The family is now worried about how to get RS 80 Lakh, paid to an agent in Haryana, back.
