Kolkata: The family of the victim of RG Kar along with other protesters remained in the streets on Sunday, establishing Abhaya clinics and taking demonstrations, to mark his 32 birthday.
“My daughter always used to treat patients on her birthday. Every year, we celebrated with Payesh and a cake cake at night. But this year, her 32nd birthday was observed with tears at the Abhaya clinic,” said the mother of the internal deceased. The front of the Junior doctors of Western Bengala established ABHAYA clinics in key locations where the young doctor lived and served, including Nataghar, Mahendra Nagar and Parthapur Bazar more in Sodepur.
The patients who visited the clinic received young people, symbolizing their spirit.
On January 18, a lower court had sentenced Sanjay Roy, the main defendant in the case of RG Kar’s violation murder, by life imprisonment. CBI has approached the Superior Court, appealing the capital punishment for Roy for atrocious crime on August 9 of last year.
Panihati residents, who are not far from their residence, organized a silent march. Starting since its residence, the procession marched more to Kanch Kal from Sodepur. “On his birthday, we promised to continue our struggle for justice. All who stopped with us on Sunday reaffirmed their commitment to ensure that my daughter receives justice,” said his father.
At night, the Junior doctors met in front of the ‘shout of the hour’ statue on the RG Kar campus.
They said they are always with the victim’s family in their demand for justice.
The doctors’ rally, which began from College Square, was arrested at the RG Kar door by security staff, who blocked the main door. Later, protesters were allowed to present their respects. The meeting included superior doctors and health workers of several organizations, including the forum of service doctors and the medical service and the nursing unit.
