His trust is high after eliminating some of the big names of the tournament earlier for the week, Denis Shapovalov in Canada played some of his best tennis when he imported the most on Sunday.
The result was a 7-6 (5) and 6-3 victory over Casper Ruud de Norway in the Dallas Open final.
It was the third race title for the left -handed of Richmond Hill, Ontario, and the first ATP 500 crown.
“I felt that I had to do it against Casper,” Shapovalov said in a telephone interview while enjoying a meal after the game. “It is obviously an opponent of Super Uncle. I was swaying trying to play really hard. I tried to play to win today.”

Richmond Hill, Ontario, Denis Shapovalov’s native defeats Casper Ruud de Norway 7-6 (5), 6-3 for an annoying victory in the final of the Dallas Open. The Canadian defeated the first three seeds in the tournament on the way to his third career ATP title.
Shapovalov had an advantage of 13-5 in ACES and won 72 percent of its first service points. He kept the only rest point he faced and ended the victory in an hour and 40 minutes.
The Canadian knocked down the three upper seeds during the week. He beat Top Seed and No. 4 of the world Taylor Fritz of the United States in the second round and bothered the American Tommy Paul, the number 9 of the world, in the semifinals.
The Ruud of the fifth classified presented another rigid challenge. Shapovalov used his booming dumps and his skilled short game to move the Norwegian around the court.
Shapovalov also gave a game with an aggressive game in the tiebreaker.
A sizzling setback by the line gave him a 3-1 edge and a mini breaks. Ruud returned to the service to 5-6 before sending a right return to the network in the established ball.
“I felt that I really tried to go for my services, not delay, but play intelligently and work the points really playing to win and really for my shots,” Shapovalov said. “I had a little luck with some good passes and I could really serve [well] In that tiebreaker. “

Shapovalov took control by winning the first three games of the second set. He turned great success to the starting point to block the biggest title of his career.
Shapovalov will increase 22 positions to number 32 when the updated world classifications are released. It will be its highest position since September 2023.
Shapovalov is the first player in six years to ensure victories about three best players in a single ATP 250 or 500. Nick Kyrgios was the last to do it in Acapulco in 2019, when he beat Rafael Nadal, John Isner and Alexander Zverev.
“You have to play aggressively, especially me,” Shapovalov said. “I feel that is where it stands out and that’s where I can play my best tennis. I am happy to have been able to do it constantly for some games this week.”
A former Top 10 player, Shapovalov fought against injuries in recent seasons and at one time fell until No. 140. He took the recent draw of the Canada Davis Cup against Hungary due to a back injury.
“I definitely feel very beaten,” he said. “It has been a difficult week, especially playing many late games. Surely it puts more stress in the body.”
The three titles of the ATP tour have been on hard courts. He also won in Stockholm in 2019 and Belgrade last year.
It was Shapovalov’s first victory against Ruud on three face to face.
