An 82 -year -old woman who was injured in a fire bomb attack in Boulder, Colorado, at the beginning of this month died.
The Boulder County District Prosecutor identified the woman as Karen Diamond, adding that she died “as a result of the serious injuries he suffered in the attack.” The officials did not share what injuries Diamond suffered during the June 1 attack.
“This horrible attack has now claimed the life of an innocent person who was loved by his family and friends,” said District Prosecutor Michael Dougherty in a press release. “Our hearts are with the Diamond family during this incredibly difficult time. Our office will fight for justice for victims, their loved ones and the community.”
Diamond’s family requested “privacy while they continue crying,” said the district prosecutor’s office.
Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, is accused of using an “makeshift flamethrower” and Molotov cocktails in a group of people who requested the release of Israeli hostages in Gaza. Since then he has been accused of a series of positions, including 28 charges of murder attempt in relation to 14 of the victims, according to the district prosecutor’s office.
After Diamond’s death, the District Prosecutor’s Office modified two criminal attempt positions to commit a first degree murder. The counts were changed to the first degree murder, one under an extreme indifference theory, and another with intention and after deliberation. Both positions are related to Diamond, said the district prosecutor’s office.
The District Prosecutor’s Office has also reached Soliman with 66 additional positions related to 14 additional victims that were identified through ongoing investigation.
“In total, the amended complaint names a total of 29 victims in the attack,” said the district prosecutor’s office. “Of the 29 victims, 13 suffered physical injuries during the attack.”
A complaint against Soliman, presented by the state of Colorado, now contains two first -degree murder positions, 52 positions of attempted first degree murder, eight first -degree assault positions, 18 charges attempt to attempt to attempt an attempt to use an device attempt of a incendiary device and a position of animal aggression.
If it is declared guilty of first degree murder, Soliman could be sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of probation, according to the district prosecutor’s office. The rest of the charges against them have a prison sentence from 16 to 48 years.
A Soliman lawyer did not immediately respond to a comment request on Monday.
The next Judicial Hearing of Soliman is July 15, according to the Office of the District Prosecutor.
