Nueva Delhi: Several prominent members of the AAM AADMI party (AAP) have renounced their positions as members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), citing dissatisfaction with the decision of the party not to grant them tickets for the next elections.
The resignations include Rohit Mehraulia, MLA of Trilokpuri, Madan Lal de Kasturba Nagar, Rajesh Rish of Janakpuri and Bhavna Gaur de Palam. In addition, Bhupinder Singh Joon, the MLA of Bijwasan, and Pawan Kumarma, the MLA of Adarsh Nagar, has also renounced its positions.
The AAP has not provided tickets for these six MLA for the next electoral cycle, a movement that has led to its party departure. Sources close to the resigned members suggest that the decision to exclude them from the list of candidates was a key factor in their decision to leave.
In another important development, Naresh Yadav, MLA of Mehrauli, also resigned from the party. Yadav, who had served as MLA during two consecutive terms, was initially presented as a AAP candidate for a third mandate. However, after accusations related to a case of sacrilege were demonstrated, Yadav voluntarily returned his ticket. Subsequently, AAP decided to present another candidate for the circumscription of Mehrauli.
The party has not yet issued an official statement regarding resignations.
