A 6 -year -old boy was found dead at his home in Florida on Friday, and his mother, who has been criminally accused of death, believed that they told him that “exorcie the demons outside the child’s body,” said the Sheriff of St. Lucie’s county.
The child’s body, Ra’myl Pierre, was found in his bed at Forte Pierce’s house shortly after 10 in the morning, after school resource agents requested social assistance control, said Sheriff Richard R. Del Toro Jr.
His mother, Rhonda Paulynice, 31, was accused on Friday of second degree murder, not reporting a death and altering a body, Toro said.
“What we learned when speaking with the mother is that God told him that God basically exorcies demons outside the child’s body,” he said at a press conference. “And when the boy stopped moving and basically died, at that time he felt that the child had been released from those demons.”
When the sheriff agent arrived at the house, Paulynice met the deputy on the entrance road and escorted the officer to the house, where the dead child was found in a bed in his room, Toro said.
The cause and shape of death could not be determined immediately and an autopsy will be performed, said Toro.
The Sheriff’s office has responded to the house before, but nothing involved to the mother and the child, Toro said. The last time they responded in a call about a medical problem for the mother on May 17, the day before the researchers believe that the murder took place, he said.
There had been some domestic problems in the house in the past that involved the mother and her sister, who no longer live there, but nothing involves the child, Toro said.
The mother was interviewed by Sheriff’s detectives on Friday, Toro said.
“During the course of the interviews, our detectives learned that the mother spoke for the last time with the boy on May 18,” he said. “It was then that we believe that homicide occurred and that she was responsible for the death of children.”
The second degree murder case did not appear in the judicial records online on Friday night, and it was not clear immediately if Paulynice had a lawyer who could speak in his name.
Toro told journalists at a press conference on Friday that he has not talked to Paulynice, but they told him that he showed a variety of emotions on the scene when he spoke with the researchers.
“What we do know is that she had many ups and downs during the investigation, from laughing at different times to crying,” he said.
The researchers believe that the child has been dead in his room since May 18, Toro said, but said the autopsy should help provide more information.
No one else lived in the house in addition to Paulynice and the boy, he said.
