6 killed, 2 injured as bus collides with rescue vehicle in Punjab’s Rahim Yar Khan – Pakistan

A collision between a bus and a rescue ambulance killed six people on Thursday, including four rescue personnel, and wounded two others in the Rahim Yar Khan district of Punjab, according to the authorities.

A statement issued by Punjab Farouk Ahmed rescue spokesman said the accident occurred on the Rahim Yar Khan road in the Kot Samaba area. “Six people, including four rescue personnel, died in the accident,” he said.

According to Rescue 1122, Adnan Shabbir, the incident took place at 3:21 pm. He said the two injured people were taken to the Sheikh Zayed Medical College hospital to receive treatment.

The Rahim Yar Khan district police officer, Irfan Ali Sammon, had arrived at the scene to monitor aid activities. The attached commissioner (DC) Khuram Javed conded the families of the deceased rescue officials and sought a report by the interested officers.

The 1122 rescue declaration added that the Secretary of Emergency Services instructed the rescue officer of the district to provide an immediate report of the accident.

“The Provincial Minister of Emergency Services Khawaja Salman Rafique and Secretary of Emergency Services, Dr. Rizwan Naseer, expressed his regret for the loss of six lives in the accident of Rahim Yar Khan,” he said.

The general director of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Irfan Ali Kathia, expressed his condolence for the loss of six lives, saying that the accident was “deeply unfortunate.”

He directed the DC to provide the best medical assistance. “The affected families will receive assistance according to the Punjab Government policy,” he said.

He added: “Citizens are asked to take precautionary measures while traveling.”

Traffic accidents are common throughout Pakistan due to reckless driving, the bad road conditions and the weak traffic application. Vehicles of speeding and not fit are added to risk, especially on roads.

Last month, nine passengers died and another 30 were injured after a bus fell into a ditch near Balkassar’s exchange in the Chakwal district of Punjab.

Six people died and seven were injured after a passenger bus caught fire after colliding with a Rickshaw charger that transported gasoline at the Western Bypass in Quetta on June 24.

In April, a bus driver was burned alive and seven passengers were injured when his bus caught fire after hitting a mini truck loaded with groove on the M-4 highway near Nawan Lahore Interchange.
