6 dead, 7 injured due to explosion at fireworks warehouse in Mandi Bahauddin – Pakistan

At least six people were killed and seven others injured after they were trapped under rubble after the roof of a house collapsed due to an explosion at a fireworks warehouse in Mandi Bahauddin on Saturday.

According to Imran Khan, district emergency officer of Rescue 1122, the explosion occurred due to a short circuit when two people were preparing fireworks on the first floor of the house.

Station house officer Mohammad Akram Hanjan of Pahtarianwali police station said further investigation was underway to determine the cause of the explosion.

Among the deceased are a man, three women and two girls. Their bodies were taken to a hospital, according to an incident report issued by the police.

The report states that of the six dead, four were in the same house where the explosion occurred, while one female victim was in the adjacent house and another was a pedestrian.

Among the injured, four are men and three are women, he added.

“All the injured are in stable condition,” the report said.

According to SHO Akram and Khan of Rescue 1122, the pyrotechnic material weighed between 12 and 15 kilograms.

In October, seven people, including a minor and a woman, died in Multan after the roof of their house collapsed following an explosion from fireworks stored inside the house.

In April, two workers died when a fire broke out at a fireworks factory in Faisalabad.
