At least five people, including an assistant commissioner, were killed and another 11 wounds on Wednesday in an explosion of bombs in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bajaur district.
The Police officer of the District of Bajaur Waqas Rafique said Dawn.com That five people were killed in the explosion aimed at a government vehicle in Nawagai Road in the Siddiqabad railway attack area of Khar Tehsil.
Two police officers and a civilian are among the dead, Rafique said.
“The explosion was so intense that the attacked vehicle was completely destroyed,” he said, adding that 11 people injured in the explosion were immediately transported to the Khar hospital.
The DPO said that security had increased in the area and that relief activities were underway.
The deceased include the Nawagai assistant commissioner, Faisal Ismail, Tehsildar Abdul Wakil, Subedar Noor Hakim and Rashid police officer.
The health advisor Ihtisham Ali strongly condemned the explosion and expressed his pain for the disappearance of the assistant commissioner and others in the incident.
He contacted the health officer of the district and the medical superintendent of the DHQ Hospital in Bajaur and asked after the welfare of the injured people in the attack.
“An emergency has been imposed in Bajaur hospitals and health department staff have been alerted to first aid,” he said.
The health advisor assured the Pubic to provide medical assistance to the injured in the explosion.
KP government spokesman Barrimer Ali Saif firmly condemned the incident and said the loss of lives was unfortunate.
“The main minister of the KP issued orders for investigation into the incident and provides medical facilities to the injured, Saif said.
“Those who are hostile elements for the country may not succeed in their dire purposes and will be taken before justice.”
