At least five people died and four others were injured when a collection vehicle immersed himself in a deep throat in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Kurram district on Friday morning, police said.
Kurram Ashfaq Khan’s attached commissioner said Dawn.com: “The accident occurred in the for Chambani Gondal, where five people died and four others suffered wounds.”
He said the vehicle was on its way to Sadda Bazaar Lower Kurram by Spin Ghar Manro when the incident occurred.
“The vehicle lost control in a narrow and dangerous curve and fell on the road, as a result of which five people died in the place while four were seriously injured,” he added.
The deceased were identified as Gul Wali, son of Abdul Hanan (driver); Naimatullah, son of Gul Khan; Naseb, son of Hamad Jan, residents of Manro; Dolly Khan, son of Islam; and Riazuddin, son of Zahiruddin, residents of Kimal Baza Zangi.
According to the attached commissioner, the premises voluntarily began relief operations to rescue the injured and recover the bodies shortly after the incident.
The injured were immediately taken to the Sadda hospital with the help of the locals, where it is said that the condition of some of the injured is critical, he said.
Fatal accidents are common on roads in the mountainous regions of the country due to violations of traffic rules, treacherous land and poor infrastructure.
A day before, at least five people died in a collision between a car and a truck in Chashma Road in the district of Dera Ismail Khan, rescue officials said.
Eight members of a family died on May 1 when a car bound for Rawalpindi immersed himself in a deep ravine in the Lower Kohistan District Matta area, police said.
At least 10 people died and another nine were injured on April 15, when a speed trailer ran a truck to Peshawar on the Indo road in the Karak district of KP.
Five people were killed when a three -wheeled vehicle fell into a channel in the Gohati area of KP’s Swabi on April 7.
