The tremors of an earthquake of 5.3 magnitude felt in Peshawar and Islamabad on Wednesday, according to a press release issued by the seismic network of the Department of Meteorology of Pakistan (PMD), but so far there have been no reports of victims or damages.
The PMD declared that the earthquake occurred at 6:27 pm with a magnitude of 5.3 and a depth of 110 kilometers. The PMD determined that the epicenter was in the Hindu mountains Kush in Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, the United States Geological Service (USGS) tracked an earthquake in the northeast of Afghanistan, near the border of Pakistan, 35 km south of Eshkashm.
The USGS data shows that the earthquake was recorded at 6:27 pm, although with a magnitude of 5.1 and a depth of 128 km.
Last week, an earthquake of strong magnitude and 5.2 shook the northern parts of the country, including the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad and several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The PMD said in a statement that the earthquake epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan. The depth of the earthquake was 190 km.
The event’s shaking map shows that the earthquake was of moderate intensity.
