It is missing four people after an Airmedic helicopter crashed near Natashquan, a community on the northern coast of Quebec, around 10:30 pm on Friday.
The helicopter, which transported four crew members and a passenger, was in a rescue operation in the area, according to Raphaele Bourgault, a company spokesman who specializes in medical air transport.
A person was rescued and transported to the hospital. Their injuries are not potentially mortal, according to the provincial police, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
Terrestrial and aquatic search teams are on the site to try to find the four missing people.
“Airmedic staff is working closely with the authorities and the first to respond to manage the situation and provide assistance,” the company said in a statement.
The SQ and Canada Transport Security Board is investigating the cause of the accident.
