On Thursday, three transit police were injured when a police truck was attacked while patrolling the Dara Pezo area of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Lakki Marwat district, according to the police.
Pakistan has witnessed an increase in terrorist activities during the past year, especially in KP and Baluchistan, after the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) outlaw (TTP) ended its high fire with the government in November 2022.
In a statement, the district police officer (DPO) Mohammad Jawad Ishaq said three police officers were injured when their police truck was criticized by “heavy weapons.”
“The police truck caught fire during the attack,” said the DPO. “The terrorists fled to a town in the tanks district.”
Later in the day, Dpo Ishaq visited the Hospital of the Headquarters of the District of Lakki Marwat and asked about the condition of the injured. He met the family members of the injured and assured them support.
“The criminals want to sabotage peace through acts of terrorism and spread fear, but Lakki’s police are committed and capable of defeating and counteracting such attempts,” added Dpo Ishaq.
According to a separate statement from the DPO, the Lakki Marwat police and the Terrorism Department (CTD) carried out a “search and strike operation against the TTP and its facilitators.”
“On the instructions of Dpo Lakki Marwat … Lakki DSP (Deputy Police Superintendent) Zafarullah Khan, along with CTD DSP, District Police, Elite Force and CTD staff along with armored vehicles, carried out [a] Joint search and strike operations in the Wanda Amir area of the Saddar Police Station, ”said the statement.
The statement added that the hiding places allegedly belonging to TTP were attacked and weapons and ammunition were seized.
“The objective of the search and strike operation is to maintain peace and order in the area, suppress the antisocial elements and provide a safe environment to honorable and respectable citizens,” the statement concluded.
On Tuesday, Mianwali and CTD police had carried out a successful joint operation against terrorists in Makarwal, killing at least 10 of them and hurting several others.
