At least three tourists died, another four were injured and 15 disappeared after the floods caused by heavy rains swept the Babusar area of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) in the Diamer district on Monday.
The rains of the monsoon, which fall throughout the region from June to September of each year, continue to open many parts of the country, which leads to the authorities to publish a warning of urban floods for several cities.
According to Faizullah Firaq, spokesman for the GB Government, three bodies were recovered from flood debris today, while four injured people were transported to a hospital in Chilas.
“Another fifteen tourists have disappeared, since eight tourist vehicles were dragged into the furious flood,” Firaq said in a statement. “Medical assistance for injured is ongoing, with an individual in critical condition.”
The spokesman added that the communication systems were interrupted due to a fiber optic break, while thousands of tourists were stranded and communication with their homes had been cut.
“The government has successfully rescued hundreds of tourists stranded in Babusar Highway, and many have sought refuge with local residents,” said Firaq.
“The GB Principal Minister has ordered that all the resources available to rescue the stranded. The Babusar road is closed in multiple points, with severely damaged roads and cultivation lands.”
Meanwhile, Amir Khadam Khan, a rescue spokesman 1122 Mansehra, said Dawn.com That jalkhad path in Naran was blocked by large stones and debris due to heavy rains in the area.
“According to the initial reports, a car is caught in the rubble,” Khan said. “Fortunately, so far it has not been informed of loss of lives or properties.”
The National Highway Authority (NHA) deployed heavy machinery from nearby places to begin the process of clearing the road and restoring traffic.
A 1122 rescue ambulance also reached the scene to provide assistance in case of any possible emergency.
On June 29, the GB Disaster Management Authority issued a warning of a higher risk of flooding of Glacial Lake (GLOF) and sudden floods. The public was advised and tourists who avoid approaching rivers, streams and other river routes, and avoid bathing or washing clothes in streams, since water flow can reach dangerous levels.

Separately, three children died and a woman was injured when a roof collapsed due to heavy rains in the Gujjar Khyber Pakhtunkhwa band in Madyan from the Swat district on Monday night.
Shafiqa Gul, rescue spokesman 1122, northern region, said Dawn.com that the incident occurred due to heavy rains.
She said the house collapsed due to heavy rains, burying three children and a woman underneath.
“Three brothers and his mother were seriously injured and moved to the Madyan Civil Hospital to receive treatment,” he said, added that a rescue team was immediately sent and arrived at the scene as soon as the Swat control room received information.
She said that, according to doctors, the three children died in the accident while her mother was seriously injured.
Monzón rains on Punjab to continue until July 25: Pdma
A spokesman for the Provincial Disaster Authority of Punjab (PDMA) said there will be more monsoon rains in the province until July 25, according to a statement.
According to the Department of Meteorology of Pakistan (PMD), the divisions of Malakand and Hazara of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the southern parts of Punjab and Sindh, Eastern Baluchistan and parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) were expected to receive rain and storms with strong winds.
Rain and thunderstorms were forecast for the urban centers of Punjab in the south, such as Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan, although the general climate of the province was expected to remain partially murky and human.
According to the PDMA, Punjab will receive a fourth wave of monsoon rains until July 25, which the authority says it is “a little more powerful.”
“The rain has been forecast in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiat, Atock, Chakwal, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Gujarat, Jhelum and Gujranwala,” reads the statement. “The rain is also expected in Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Nareowal, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Sargodha and Mianwali,” said his statement.
“The rain is also predicted in Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and fine.”
The general director of Punjab Pdma, Irfan Ali Kathia, announced that due to heavy rain, there is a high possibility of greater water flow in the rivers.
“An flood alert for rivers and channels in Punjab has been issued,” said the statement.
The PDMA warned that there is the possibility of a greater flow in the Ravi, Jhelum, Sutlej and Chenab rivers, while stating that the water flow in the Indo River was measured in 420,000 Cusecs in the bombing of Taunsa.
The flood prognosis division showed that at 6 PM, the water flow in Taunsa’s bombardment stood at 383,456 CUSECs.
“On the Indo River, there is a low -level flood in Tarbela, Kala Bagh and Chashma,” said the PDMA.
The PDMA DG said that in the instructions of the Punjab main minister, an alert has been issued to all administrations throughout the province.
“The attached commissioners have received instructions to remain in the field, while section 144 must be imposed along the banks of rivers and channels,” Kathia said, instructing the police to increase the patrols along the river tracks.
The DG added: “All relevant departments, including WASA, rescue 1122 and district administrations, must be on alert. The drainage of the stagnant water of the low areas must be guaranteed, as well as the deployment of machinery and personnel in strangulation points.”
Kathia also ordered that the elimination stations remain functional, while urging people in private homes to guarantee adequate drainage. He warned that those who could not make sure the drain faced action.
He also urged the public to take caution measures amid heavy rains, such as staying away from the pylons and appliances during a storm and avoiding houses made of mud or in ruins conditions.
Until now, 123 people have been killed and 462 wounds since June 25 when the province received record rainfall, which caused urban floods that flooded the residential areas, the PDMA said last week. Of these, 71 deaths were reported only in the last two days.
