Three terrorists were killed, while six others escaped after the Department of Terrorism (CTD) carried out an intelligence -based operation (IBO) near Rehmanikhel in Mianwali, according to the specialized police force on Friday.
A statement issued by the CTD said it made an IBO to arrest the terrorists.
However, the terrorists opened fire against the police.
In a fire exchange, the terrorist killed three of his while the remaining six escaped.
Police found rifles, three hand grenades, bullets and explosives in the murdered terrorists.
A search operation was being carried out to arrest the terrorists who had escaped, according to the statement, added that the teams had established a block near Rehmanikhel.
The process of identifying the murdered terrorists was underway, the statement continued.
He added that the terrorists who were attacked had completed their planning to carry out important attacks in police positions.
Separately, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police, in a statement, said that unidentified criminals carried out “unsuccessful attacks” about Fatehkhel Chowki in the Bannu district and Takia’s post in Bara Tehsil of the Khyber district, and added that both attacks were repelled by the immediate response of the police.
A young man was injured in an exchange of fire in Bannu, according to the statement.
The KP Police Inspector, Zulfiqar Hameed, said the police frustrated the attacks with professionalism and courage, adding that the evil elements in society will be brought to an end.
“The soldiers showed great devotion to duty to remain alert,” said Ig Hameed, adding that the moral of the young people was high and were determined to continue the fight until terrorism was eradicated.
The IG paid tribute to the bravery of the KP Police and announced cash rewards and certificates of thanks.
In a statement, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to the forces to frustrate the attack against a police post in Bannu and the murder of three terrorists in Mianwali.
He said that Bannu Police staff bravely faced terrorists and frusted the attack.
He congratulated the KP police personnel for frustrating the dire terrorist intentions, emphasizing that KP’s police were fighting the war against terrorism with courage.

Speaking about the incident of Mianwali, Naqvi said that CTD personnel bravely fought terrorists.
