Three terrorists belonging to a banned militant were killed during an operation in the Mastung district, the Baluchistan terrorism department (CTD) said Monday.
Pakistan has witnessed an increase in terrorist activities during the past year, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan, after the proscribed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended its high fire with the government in November 2022.
According to a statement by CTD spokesman, “the three suspects, who were killed, were linked to Daesh and planned future horror acts.”
Daesh refers to the militant Islamic State Group (IS) forbidden, a worldwide terrorist organization worldwide.
The CTD performed an operation during which a “suspect from Daesh of high value”, which was involved in the kidnapping and murder of a minor, was being taken to identify an alleged hiding place on the outskirts of the Mastung Dasht area, the statement said.
“The suspect had been in custody of CTD and was involved in a brutal case of kidnapping for the rescue, where the kidnapped minor was murdered in captivity after the rescue was not paid,” he added.
“It was also linked to a Daesh operational cell, involved in the collection of funds and the facilitation of terror in the province.”
The statement also said that the armed accomplices present within the hiding place opened fire against the CTD team “in an attempt to ensure the release of their associate.”
“CTD officials returned the fire in self -defense, which resulted in a fierce exchange. There was a shooting. [which] It resulted in the murder of Held Suspepeche for the fire of his group during chaos, ”he added.
“Two armed terrorists were also neutralized on the spot.”
The statement also said that the group participated in “specific murders and extortion networks, using children’s kidnappings to finance militant operations.”
The CTD recovered “a cache of weapons, explosive materials, communication devices and extremist literature of the site,” according to the statement.
A first information report was being registered at the CTD Quetta police station, while more raids were also planned for other areas of Dasht and Spilinji “to catch the remaining members of the group,” he concluded.
Pakistan took second place in the 2025 global terrorism index, with the number of deaths in terrorist attacks that increased by 45 percent during the past year to 1,081.
On Friday, an interim police superintendent of the Baluchistan Police (DSP) and an agent were martyred and two others suffered wounds when unidentified gunmen opened fire against their vehicle on the national road in Mastung.
Faced with the growing attacks of militants, especially in KP and Baluchistan, security forces have also intensified anti -terrorist operations.
Last week, CTD Baluchistan killed five terrorists during a joint operation carried out with other law enforcement agencies in the Duki district.
The security forces killed four terrorists during an operation in the Kalat district of Baluchistan on Sunday.
