Police killed three terrorists on the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during a search operation, according to a statement from the Ministry General of Police of the Province (IGP).
Pakistan has witnessed an increase in terrorist activities during the past year, especially in KP and Baluchistan, after the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) outlaw (TTP) ended its high fire with the government in November 2022.
According to the Declaration of IGP Zulfikar Ahmed, operations are carried out at the district level in KP to eliminate terrorists.
“In the district of Lakki, the police face more cowardly acts of terrorists, to which they are giving a strong and effective response,” he said.
“Observing the presence of terrorists within the limits of the Tajuri Police Station last night, the Local Police and the Peace Committee persecuted them,” said the PGI statement. “The Lakki police, the counter-terrorism department and the special quick response force launched a search operation.”
A separate statement from the Lakki Police said that the operation took place at 10:45 am this morning in the Madazai forest and was led by the Jawad Ishaq district police officer.
The PGI statement said: “In the operation, from 20 to 25 terrorists were found within the limits of the Tajuri and Barandai police stations. Both parties used heavy weapons in this two -hour battle.
“The police fought very bravely and killed three terrorists without suffering losses,” said the IGP. “Upon learning of that, several injured terrorists fled the scene and a search operation was launched.”
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi congratulated Lakki’s police for the successful “search and strike operation” in a statement from his office published in X.
“We are proud of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s police courage and police,” Naqvi said. “[The] KP police are in the front line in the war against terrorism [and are] determined to eliminate KhawarjiThe aggregate statement, using the term by designating terrorists.
