Three people lost their lives in separate road accidents in Karachi on Saturday, according to police officers.
The city has recently witnessed an increase in traffic accidents, especially that they involve heavy vehicles, including Dumpers and water oil tankers, which killed almost 500 people and wounded 4,879 in 2024, according to hospital data.
A motorcycle rider was killed in the Defense Housing Authority when a vehicle hit him on Saturday morning, said Deputy General South Syed Asad Raza Dawn.com.
He said: “The Bykea [hail-riding service] The rider was going through Khayaban-I-Nishat Crossing when the sports utility vehicle hit him. He suffered critical injuries and was transported to the Jinnah postgraduate medical center (JPMC), where he succumbed to his wounds. ”
The police have confiscated the vehicle and arrested the driver, he added.
The Darakshan Station station (Sho) Shahid Taj said that the heirs of the victim and the suspect had reached an extrajudicial agreement and told the police that they did not want any legal process.
He added that it was said that the suspect belonged to an influential family.
In another incident, a water oil tanker claimed the life of a motorcyclist in Qayyumabad.
Korangi Sho Mohammed Ali Niazi said Dawn.com“The oil tanker hit the pilot in Jam Sadiq Bridge. He suffered critical injuries and was transported to the JPMC where he was declared dead.”
The wandering driver was arrested and a heavy vehicle was confiscated, he added.
Separately, a trailer killed a man in Landhi. According to Malir’s police superintendent, Mansoor Gulzar Bozdar, the victim was a professor at a government university that was heading to the institute when a trailer hit him in Future Colony.
Police surgeon Sumaiya Syed said he was transferred to JPMC but lost his life during treatment.
The driver managed to escape from the place, leaving behind the heavy vehicle that was confiscated by the police, said the SP, added that a first information report was recorded against the driver on the victim’s brother’s complaint.
Earlier this month, the police said that a woman was killed and that her husband was hurt when a water tank truck hit her motorcycle and ran over Korangi, which caused an angry crowd to set fire to the water oil tanker.
In April, an employee of the Pakistan Navy was killed while another was injured in the Karachi Baldia after a 10 -wheel towing hit them, police said.
