Two soldiers were martyred and five terrorists were killed in a frustrated attack against a security verification in the district of Qila Abdullah in Baluchistan, the wing of military media affairs said Tuesday.
A Public Relations Declaration between Services (ISPR) said that terrorists tried to attack a verification of security forces in the general area of Gulistan of the District at night between Monday and Tuesday.
“The attempt to enter the post was effectively frustrated by the troops themselves,” the ISPR said, added that this forced the terrorists to destroy a vehicle loaded with explosives on the limit of the post.
He added that five terrorists, including two suicidal terrorists, were “sent to hell” in the exchange of fire.
“However, during the intense exchange of fire, two brave children of land, Naik Tahir Khan, 39, and Lance Naik Tahir Iqbal, 26, having fought gallantly, paid the last sacrifice and hugged martyrdom,” he added The statement.
The ISPR said that a disinfecting operation was being carried out in the area and that the perpetrators of the “atrocious act” would be taken before justice.
“Pakistan security forces are determined to eliminate the threat of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave men further strengthen our resolution.” The statement concluded.
Last week, the security forces neutralized six terrorists in the Zhob district of Baluchistan while trying to infiltrate the province through the border between Pakistan-Afghanistan.
After the prohibited militant Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan broke a fragile high fire agreement with the government in 2022, the country witnessed a strong increase in the number of attacks aimed at security forces and other application agencies of the law, particularly in Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
A security report, published earlier this month by the group of experts based in Islamabad, Pak Institute for Peace Studies, showed that in 2024, the number of terrorist attacks reached levels comparable to the security situation in 2014 or before.
He said that while terrorists no longer controlled specific territories within Pakistan as they did in 2014, the predominant insecurity in parts of KP and Baluchistan was “alarming.”
He said that more than 95 percent of the terrorist attacks recorded in 2024 concentrated in KP and Baluchistan.
KP registered the largest number of terrorist incidents in the country in 2024, with 295 attacks. Meanwhile, the attacks by several insurgent groups of Baloch prohibited, mainly the Baluchistan Liberation Army and the Baluchistan Liberation Front, saw an amazing increase of 119 percent, representing 171 incidents in Baluchistan, he said.
