Two police officers were shot dead in a “terrorist” attack on Wednesday in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Khan District’s area, police said.
Talking with Dawn.comDi Khan police spokesman Yaqoob Khan said: “Police staff were on their way to buy food when terrorists opened fire.”
The deceased have been identified as the head agent Ghulam Muhammad and agent Shahzad, both former military.
After the attack, the staff of the police department and against terrorism (CTD) tracked the terrorists and killed one of them during an operation, while the other two, although injured, fled.
“Weapons and ammunition of the murdered terrorist have been recovered, while a search operation is underway for terrorists in general,” according to the spokesman.
The Federal Minister of Interior Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack, paying tribute to martyred staff.
He salute the “sacrifices made by the brave children” of KP in their fight against terrorism. Expressing sympathy for the families of the deceased, he said that the government meets them at this difficult time.
Naqvi promised that “his sacrifices will not go in vain.”
“The KP police are leading the fight against terrorism in the country,” he said.

With A Series of Attacks Across Peshawar, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and Bajaur in recent months.
On June 21, KP police killed a terrorist and wounded two others belonging to the TTP group in Dera Ismail Khan while trying to attack the police.
On June 3, terrorist attacks against two police stations in the districts of Bajaur and Bannu of KP injured four police personnel. In May, two police officers were martyred and two were injured in a suicide attack in Peshawar, while in a separate incident, two policemen lost their lives as a result of an attack against a police control point in Bannu.
Faced with the growing attacks of militants, security forces have also intensified anti -terrorist operations in KP and Baluchistan.
On July 5, three alleged terrorists belonging to the Tipu Gul group of the TTP were killed in a joint operation by the CTD.
Pakistan took second place in the 2025 global terrorism index, with the number of deaths in terrorist attacks that increased by 45 percent during the past year to 1,081.
