Police arrested 13 suspects during the raids on Saturday as a first information report (FIR) was presented by the lynching of an Ahmadí man in the Saddar de Karachi area.
Laeq Ahmad Chema, a 46-year-old businessman, was beaten to death when hundreds of supporters of Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) broke into a room that belonged to the Ahmadiyya community to avoid observing religious rituals.
TLP workers allegedly hit Cheema, who was supposedly recording a video of the mafia, near the auto parts market at a distance from the place of worship. He was later taken to the Civil Hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds.
South Police General Inspector Syed Asad Raza said Syed Asad Raza Dawn.com that the Police registered a case against 15 suspects nominated for the positions of murder and terrorists for lynching.
The FIR was filed by the victim’s relative at the Preedy Police Station under sections 147 (riots), 148 (disturbances, armed with mortal weapon), 149 (each member of the illegal guilt of the Assembly of the Assembly of the Assembly of the section of the section of the section of the section of the section of the section of the section of the section of the section of the section of the section of section of section 7 section.
The plaintiff said he had arrived to meet with the deceased in the house of the latter when he received a call at 1:30 PM that Cheema was seriously injured by a large number of people near the Hashu Center and taken to the Karachi Civil Hospital.
The plaintiff said that he and other relatives immediately arrived at the hospital, where doctors informed them that Cheema had died because of their wounds. He said he later visited Ahmadiyya Hall, where he was informed that at 1:15 pm, a mafia had hit his cousin during which the suspects also made a video of him being beaten.
“My cousin was crying for help,” said the plaintiff, adding that Cheema fell along the way and was profusely bleeding his head and face after beating. The plaintiff said that after obtaining information already through social networks, he came to know that 15 suspects named had “brutally” murdered his cousin.
The plaintiff said that his deceased cousin was witnessing a case (FIR 608/2023) that is pending before a court. According to the FIR, the deceased had appeared before the court during the hearing of that case on Friday (April 17, 2025), where the suspects had threatened him with serious consequences.

Dig Raza said that one of them was the only president -elect of the Council of the Union of Kharadar. He added that the suspect had played and won on a TLP ticket. He said that the other three suspects were nominated in a previous vandalism case against TLP in 2023 related to the same site, the only ocular witness of the incident being chee.
He said that of the 15 suspects nominated in the FIR, eight were seen on the site and that seven were not visible, therefore, their participation was being verified. Raza added that early, the South Police made several raids in the hiding places of nominated individuals, with technical and human intelligence, however, most of them had hidden and off their phones.
However, he said that the police arrested 13 suspects who, according to him, were TLP members and were closely related to the suspected nominees, added that his interrogation was still underway.
Dig Raza said that seven of the people nominated in the signed accused of less serious crimes had managed to obtain an interim bond prior to the arrest of an anti -terrorist court at night.
Previously, the officer of the Preedy Police Station (SHO) Shabbir Husain had visited the residence of the deceased and met with the members of his family to convince them to present the FIR.
According to Shusain Shusain, around 45-50 Ahmadis were inside his place of worship when the mafia besieged them, and added that a prison truck was called to change them to a safe place.
The police surgeon, Dr. Sumaiya Syed said that the deceased received multiple wounds throughout his body, and death occurred “to hard and forceful impacts on the head, which caused fractures and bleeding.”
Pakistan’s Human Rights Commission (HRCP) said it was “horrified” by the incident, which he denounced as a “failure of the law and order” that was a “reminder of the continuous complicity of the State in the systematic persecution of a besieged community.”
He said that the perpetrators of the attack in Saddar must be quickly tracked, arrested and processed “without collapsing the pressure of the right end of freeing those responsible.”
In a report last month, the HRCP said it had observed a growing trend of attacks led by the mafia against homes of families belonging to religious minorities, as well as their places of worship.
The report, entitled ‘Bajo Siege: Freedom of Religion or Belieh in 2023-24’, said more than 750 people were in prison for blasphemy charges, starting in October last year. He documented at least four faith -based murders, three of which went to the Ahmadi community.
The HCRP observed a “growing weapons of the blasphemy laws against Ahmadis”, with cases often initiated by the officials in charge of enforcing the law. He also spoke of the “arbitrary detention” of Ahmadis, “desecration of his graves” and the “vulnerability of Hindu and Christian women” to forced conversion.
