Toronto police are investigating a shooting in a Scarborough pub where 12 people were injured on Friday night. Police are looking for three male suspects.
Six of the victims suffered gunshot wounds that are not mortal, police said. They said that the victims are an age from their 20 years to the mid -50s.
Police said they were called to the shooting in the Progress Avenue and Corporate Drive area, in an eastern area of Toronto, around 10:40 pm on Friday. The shooting occurred near the center of Scarborough, a shopping center near the 401 highway and McCowan Road.
According to Toronto firefighters, the equipment was called 520 Progress Ave. for shooting reports and an active shooting that occurred inside a pub.
Toronto paramedics said there were 11 victims in total, with injuries that range from minors to criticism, but the police then reviewed the number to 12 injured. And he said the injuries were not deadly.
Police initially said there was one suspects that He wore a black Balaclava and was seen fleeing in a silver car. They issued an update on Saturday morning, saying that three male suspects entered the pub and opened fire.
Mayor “deeply worried” for shooting reports
The mayor of Toronto, Olivia Chow, said in an X publication: “I am deeply worried about listening to reports of a shooting in a pub in Scarborough.”
Chow said he has spoken with Toronto police chief, Myron Demiw, and he has assured him that “all the necessary resources have been deployed.”
Chow added: “This is an early and continuous investigation: the police will provide more details. My thoughts are with the victims and their families.”
A command post has been established at the west of a parking lot near the pub, police said.
Progress Avenue closed between Ellesmere Road and Highway 401 while investigating the police. The police told people to avoid the area and use alternative routes.
