Four people, including a 10 -year -old boy, died, while one was injured in three separate accidents in Karachi, police said.
The rules that restrict the movement of heavy vehicles were recently implemented in the metropolis amid the growing traffic accidents that involve Dumpers and Petroleros and protests over the death of citizens.
Earlier this month, the provincial government prohibited the entry of heavy vehicles into the city during the day, only allowing them to operate from 11 pm to 6 am
However, exemptions were granted to trucks that transport water, oil products, medications, meat and other essential goods.
The Sindh government has also made it mandatory that all heavy vehicles in Karachi have a physical conditioning certificate amid the growing number of traffic accidents that involve Dumper trucks.
According to the officer of the Aziz Bhatti Police Station (Sho) Saeed Ahmed Dharejo, a man died and his friend was injured when a tank truck hit them on the road of the main university, near the Bazaar on Sunday.
Sho Dharejo said Dawn.com: “The victims went to Safoora as they were traveling by bicycle when the oil tanker hit them from behind 3:30 pm, killing Haris Salem, 28, at the spot while Ahmed, 18, was injured.”
The dead and injured were transferred to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC), said Sho Dharejo, adding that the wandering driver managed to escape.
According to Rescue officer 1122 Hassaan Khan, the mafia subsequently set fire to the oil tanker, which was destroyed before the Firefighters arrived.
Ittehad Town Sho Javed Akhtar police said a Route of mini passenger bus recklessly driven from W-25 hit and killed the 10-year-old Khadim Husain passenger in the Qaimkhani neighborhood near Ayesha Masjid.
The driver escaped, leaving behind the vehicle that was confiscated by the police, said Sho Akhtar. Dawn.com.
The officer said the mafia gathered there and tried to damage the Mini Bus, but the police prevented them.
In the third incident, a journalist, who also worked as a Bykea pilot, and his alleged passenger died in an incident of outrage in the main early Sharea Faisal in the morning.
The Tipu Sultan Sho Tariq Mehmood police said the victims headed towards Saddar when a car hit them from behind.
They suffered critical injuries and were taken to the JPMC, where both were declared dead upon arrival, said the sho.
The victims were identified as Tashkeel Haider Sandelo, who had worked in different media organizations, and Saqib Imtiaz, the passenger.
Sho Mehmood said they had obtained CCTV images from the place to determine the possible identity of the car rider.
